Philipina Oppong

Meet Philipina:

Philipina Oppong is my name, I am a proficient and compassionate midwifery professional with over a decade of hands-on experience as a midwife. I am passionate about providing quality healthcare services tailored to meet every patient’s unique needs. I chose midwifery for the joy and sense of accomplishment seeing a pregnant person and the baby and, most especially, seeing myself as part of this beautiful journey.
My educational journey has been a fascinating and multifaceted experience, providing me with diverse skills that have laid a strong foundation for my career in midwifery. I acquired a diploma in midwifery from the Nursing and Midwifery Training College Kumasi (Ghana). This program provided me with hands-on experience in a clinical setting, where I could apply the knowledge and skills I had gained in the classroom. Additionally I had Bachelor of Education in Health Science from the University of Cape Coast (Ghana). This program helped me develop a deeper understanding of the broader healthcare system, the philosophical foundations and methods of teaching in midwifery. Again, I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery from Kaaf University College in Ghana, where I gained a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of midwifery. I enrolled in the Internationally Educated Midwifery bridging program at the University of British Columbia in Canada, where I gained training to become a licensed Canadian Midwife.
I have over a decade of experience in midwifery care in Ghana. After gaining my midwifery license in Canada, I joined the West Hill Midwifery Practice in Prince George in November 2024 as a newly registered midwife. In my personal time, I love to sing and dance.
